[Object edits + retextures] Galeria Occitana - Mirrors!

Here's a set I posted at GoS last week. I'm still working on Reno's suit too, but the collar is killing me.

I have this odd fascination with certain types of objects, like chandeliers, candelabras, Venetian masks and most of all: Mirrors! What's shinier than mirrors? Very little is what. Here are edits of some of my favourite mirror meshes.

Small square mirror

A versatile little mirror retextured in two different styles. Mesh by Mango-Sims included.

yuxi-obj-mangoevorimirrorretexture-preview.jpg

Large round mirror

This mesh was cloned from an OFB mirror, so you'll need that EP to be able to use it. Mesh by Birgit included.

yuxi-obj-birgitafricamirror-preview.jpg

"Big is Better" mirror edit

This is an edit of a Nightlife mirror. There was a little angel ornament thing on top that I felt was out of place, so I hacked it off. Unfortunately, it will require Nightlife because I couldn't get it show up otherwise. The glass can also be retextured. Mesh by myself included, obviously.

yuxi-obj-NLbigisbettermirroredit-preview.jpg

Maxis/Jope mirrors

These are retextures of the "Past Reflections" mirror that came with the base game, and two mirrors by Jope from SimplyStyling that were based on it. All meshes are included.

I've posted this set here before, but for this upload I added another mirror to it that used the same mapping.

This is the new retexture...
yuxi-obj-maxisvisionmirrors-preview2.jpg

...and this was the older set, which is included.
yuxi-obj-maxisvanitymirrors-preview.jpg

One last note: I tend to modify the meshes of objects I edit to add shadows, so if you already have the meshes, replace them if you want those.

[Objects] More GoS theme stuff.

Just some stuff I made earlier. First, things for the GoS monthly themes.

For the Arabian Nights theme: Eight retextures of a wee bajot table by Exotic Elements. The original mesh didn't have drop shadows, so I added those as well. Files are compressed, mesh is included. You can find it under 'Coffee tables' in the catalogue.

By the way, if you were having problems with the table appearing inexplicably dark when placed on anything other than the ground floor in a house with no foundations, you might want to redownload this ('twas a mesh boober).

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

For the Asylum/medical theme: A little set of scratched-up-but-not-completely-destroyed hospital stuff from Fallout: Two gurneys, a surgery lamp, an x-ray panel (can be found under 'wall lamps' because it lights up and everything), an iv-stand, a screen thing, a little cabinet and some surgery tools. The decorative stuff can be found under Deco > Misc.
I've had this stuff extracted for years and got nostalgia after playing again, so there you go.

Updated 12 April to remove excess shine and fix descriptions.

All the tools are on one mesh because I hate not being able to find teeny weeny objects in my stuffed catalogue - I made recolour files that edit out the other tools so you can use one at a time.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

For the Base game theme: Here are ten antique-ish retextures for the Korean kite object that came with the base game, called 'Bangpae Yeon from Simporters, Ltd.' ($700 in the catalogue). The textures I used were actual kites, so I hope the hanja on it don't say something completely unrelated.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

And lastly, I actually posted a bunch of hair retextures at Reines de l'Orient over the past few months (inbetween Io's awesomeness <3). Here's the latest - click to gooo.

[Build/Object recolours] Thousand and One Nights pt 1

It's been only a bit more than a week since the Arabian Nights/Asylum theme started over at GoS, but I figured I'd repost what I posted there so far (plus one new set I didn't really find fitting).

These are retextures of the crown molding meshes that came with Apartment Life. I didn't post them because I don't find them all too Arabic, but they use the same textures as the doors and were initially made to go with them.
The thing with these is that they are slaved to each other. The top designs look shitty on the bottom mesh, so I made retextures for the bottom too (which look fine on the top mesh, just less ornate).

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

These are complete retextures of a base game window called "Arch of Antiquity". I also managed to add a texture to the recolour package for the stupid blue glass, so that part has some new texture options too. Files are all Compressorized.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

This is more 'vaguely inspired' by Arabic architecture than anything else: Five retextures of the 'Open Sesame door by 40 Thieves Ltd.' door that came with the base game, for your... treasuries and throne rooms and such. I was thinking more of Aghraba than Marrakech, so to speak.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

These are 6 retextures of the Moroccan base game door called 'Doorway to a Distant Land'. The retextures for the frame are also picked up by the 'Archway to a Distant land' arch, which is slaved to it.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

This is a bit of a quickie: Three retextures of the base game Moroccan column called 'Up, Up and Away'. I wanted to make more, but unfortunately the mapping was a very special brand of Impossible. Files are compressed and everything.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

And lastly, a request I did for the Wishing Tree: A tabletop statue of the goddess Dibella from Skyrim. Looks a bit art nouveau-ish, I think. It's slightly shiny (but not obnoxiously so) like it is in the game.

[Mesh fix + Objects] Allegro tuxedo + bits and bobs pt. 1

Just a heads-up: I am slowly revisiting all my clothing meshes to fix animation problems and add Tenshii's smooth hands.
If you have this outfit in your game, please delete and redownload it. Along with better hands and hole-fixing, I improved the black tux texture, replaced the ugly white waistcoat with just the plain shirt and slightly edited the black waistcoat. I even remade the morphs, but Milkshape acted up and wouldn't export them, alas.

The outfit in question. )

Next are some trinkets for you. See them as a little Secret Santa gift. :D

First up are these masks from ACII. I extracted them from a mask stall extracted by Kativip, added shadows and retextured the little wooden stand (the stand in the picture still has the old texture, but you'll see). There are three items: The masks on the stand, the hanging ones on the wall, and the group of masks in the left corner. The mask in the middle is by Vitasims and not included.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

Next are these little red lanterns I extracted from some game environment. I don't even remember what it was called, but there you go. One for the wall, one for the ceiling and a table lamp. They give off soft light, not halogen-like sunbeams.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

Third are 6 pieces of Japanese art on a Maxis mesh ('Cantankerous Splatters') from Night Life. Most of these are from 16th-17th century artists and are now in possession of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

Fourth are some retextures of a Maxis mirror called 'Vision Mirror "Part Reflections"' (which my game says is base game? I've no idea D:). I liked the idea behind the frame, but the default textures are way too low-res, so I finally got off my arse to do something about it.

Moved here!

Lastly, history photography by Erwin Olaf (<3) on some underused painting meshes by OM at Avalon. These scenes are meant to emulate the style of the Dutch school, and were commissioned by Leiden University back in October to commemorate the Siege of Leiden. There are 9 pictures in total, and I also included 4 recolours of a pretty frame that came with another recolour by OM. The small frame is the master mesh, so don't delete that one.

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

That'll be all from me for now. Happy Holidays!

[Objects] GoS Monthly Theme contributions

Here are some things I made when my network died on me - this month's theme over at GoS was one I'd really been rooting for. Copy-pasted from the original posts.

Threads of Gold and Silver

Have some retextures of my favourite EAxis door. I have other things planned for this theme, but I made these for personal use on a whim and thought they would fit (even though they're more Asian ~inspired~ than culturally accurate, but don't let that spoil the fun). The textures were resized for a higher amount of detail, but there is a little boober in the frame texture that I couldn't get completely seamless because of the atrocious mapping. I personally didn't find it that bothersome, though.

These will require Bon Voyage.

Nights of Kowloon

Here's another small spur-of-the-moment thing: These are, according to Google, 'luck amulets'. The original mesh was from a 2005 pay set by Janna from the late Simsconnection, but it had an ugly square wall shadow and it wasn't recolourable. So I added some good ol' spit and shine and made some retextures. I also redid an original recolour to not be grainy and mirrored.

If you have objects named 'janna_chinesecoins.package' and 'janna_chinesecoins2.package' in your Downloads folder, delete them and replace them with these. The files are Compressorized and the previews are included.

Credits: Janna/Simsconnection for the original mesh and uh, sites I found via Baidu/Google for the images.

[Object + build item recolours] Conduit+Butterfly Spring

My last exams are coming up so I have been trying to keep myself offline and studying, but I made some things to blow off steam in the meantime. No time for mesh-hacking and such, so these are just some simple recolours.

First are some small edits of Windkeeper's 'Chinese Windows' set. I like using these in modern houses but they only came in floodfill black, so I manhandled them a bit to be more versatile... Hmm, perhaps I should've made a white recolour too. Oh well.

By the Butterfly Spring - Arches and windows

Swatch

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

NOTE: I forgot to include the meshes. Get them here (chinese_windows.rar).

I pasted these on the fence mesh too, which show up as separate items. I believe you will need at least one EP to use custom fences.

Enter the Conduit - Mass Effect 2 paintings

What the picture says. The mesh has a mirror-like effect, so these looks all posh and shiny. Yay shiny! Mesh by blake_boy is included, by the way.

[ Swatch of all 25 pictures.]

That is it for today. Say, did any of you ever play Neverwinter Nights? I found the music on Youtube and was hit with nostalgia. Shitty graphics, wonderful game - I totally wasted my social life with those games when I was 13-14, haha.

[Build items + EAxis recolours] More Windkeeper and scroll retextures.

Just a small offering this time.
I love slaved window/door sets, so a while ago I made some retextures of Windkeeper's Tokyo windows. This is basically the same trick on her Shoji set (though using different textures) - I wanted to make them a bit more multifunctional.

Excuse the lame in-game preview, I'm tired and meh and I didn't have fitting CC /excuses.

The first recolour is supposed to be cast iron. It's transparent in the game.

The meshes are not included, but you can get them here (shoji_doorswindows.rar)

< Mediafire or Dropbox or Box.net >

ETA:
This does not really warrant its own post and it fits the theme: Six (I guess that's the number of my attention span) retextures of 'Eastern Blossoms by Li Qing', a wall scroll (I. LOVE. SCROLLS.) that came with Free Time.
The art is by Shiro Kasamatsu, a 20th century Japanese artist - most of these are scenes from the 1950s. So... they probably shouldn't look this weathered, but you can blame it on THE BOSSANOVA some dumb sim pouring tea on them.

[Objects] Peony Pavilion - EAxis based, China-inspired clutter

I posted these in the monthly theme thread at GoS, but I'll put them here too. Lazily copy-pasted post, for the most part.

***

Here are some things for your Asia-enthusiasts, historians, antique collectors or samurai/xiake types. I was going to make more retextures of the various wall scrolls (because I love me some wall scrolls) but ended up ripping things off the walls instead.

I'll list the sections and prices of each item so you know where to look (because if your catalogue is anything like mine I suspect that may take ages otherwise).

These are scroll paintings from early 20th century Chinese artists, snagged from a Hong Kong auction house.
Original item: "Winter Blossoms" Decorative > Wall hangings ($650)

Mangled from a Free Time scroll, remapped and edited and whatnot. (I wondered if I flipped the 3rd one, I honestly can't tell.)
Decorative > Miscellaneous ($100)

Fan: Grr, what's with the transparency there? It looks fine on the .png.
Decorative > Miscellaneous ($100). Original: 'Open-wall wall fan' Decorative > Wall hangings ($3500)

Blades of Masamune: These are Japanese katana, not Chinese dao. I really do want a decorative dao now though :|.
Single blade: Decorative > Miscellaneous ($150). Two blades: Decorative > Miscellaneous ($200)

Masks: These masks are a Japanese tengu mask, Korean drama mask, Chinese opera mask and a Venetian Casanova mask so if you're going for authentic, this isn't it. XD I'm putting it here because I spent too long on the stupid shadow. The polycount is 2296F 1546V, which is quite high for a deco object, but not explosively so.
Decorative > Miscellaneous ($500).

Files are Compressorized, by the way. All of this should be base game compatible.

[Object recolours] Curtains and EAxis edits.

It just occurred to me that I once promised I'd upload a bunch of recolours, yes? My recolour folder is a sad, sad mess, but I managed to claw these out, at least. These are just some personal edits of things that I use a lot myself, so don't expect epic sets or something.
Please do excuse my picture recycling - I am in a bit of a hurry and my computer is being slooow.

'Tokonoma Series by Jermone Inc' retextures ($775 - mentioning the price of the EAxis item so you can find it easier in the catalog)

Requires Bon Voyage.

'Shu Shu/Shi Shi Frou Frou' retexture (2 for each, $3250)

Requires Bon Voyage.

'Mystery of the Coral Dragon' column recolours

My mighty desaturation skills at work, yo. One of my favourite EAxis objects, but the colours were... not so useful.
Requires Bon Voyage. It's base game, thanks Nabila!

Avalon/OrangeMitten's Jia curtains

Meshes by Avalon/OM are included. Textures are Avalon's too, I just wanted them in more colours.
Just a note: These curtains don't have a backside. Just buy a second copy, mirror it and use move cheats to place a curtain behind it. That's what I always do anyway.

Fairywitch's Sims Medina curtains retexture

Meshes not included; get them here, as per their policy. I uploaded the meshes here, since Fairywitch seems to be gone.

And here it is all in one .rar, because I cannot be arsed to put all these tiny sets in separate archives. Files are all Compressorized.

Now for something vaguely related, I see this a lot with object recolours: Sometimes recolours show up blurry in-game if you zoom out. They'll look like this in SimPe:

[Object recolours] Idylle - Antique wall plates

Ugh, first thing I found today was a dead hedgehog stuck with his face in a McFlurry carton, poor dear. Throw your garbage where it belongs, people!
That said, it's random shit time.
I'm a bit of a history nut (I'm fond of Antiquity in particular), and I needed some more decorations for those pixel people in my game who share the same tastes. I was going to throw these in as a bonus with those wallpapers because they aren't that exciting, but...lazy. They're a bit specific to my game's aesthetics, but I hope someone besides myself might get a use out of them.

These are on a mesh by Pilar (which is included - polycount is 336F 356V for those interested, which is about normal) because even though I made my own mesh (while endlessly bugging Anto with inane questions, sorry bro), I still couldn't get it to look the way I wanted. =_=

Anyway, blah blah blah this is what I've thrown together:

David and Goliath

Ornamental Chinese dragon

Early modern European scene

Three Sassanian plates
The Sasanid Empire was the pinnacle of ancient Persian civilization in late Antiquity.

Credits: Mesh by Pilar. I swiped the pictures from museum sites and such.

And thanks so much for commenting on my previous posts, everyone! I haven't had enough time to reply, but they're very much appreciated.

[GoS Secret Santa 2009] Gifts for Pooklet

Hullo!
I hope your Christmas was merry indeed! Now let's get on to a safe 2010, yes? All my time went to my Secret Santa gifts and my giftee, the awesome Pooklet, generously decided to share her gift with everyone else. Make sure to browse the entire thread, by the way. It's full of amazing things!

ETA March 2012: Sufficient time has passed, so I decided to put the files here separately for easier future reference. Carry on.

Dirty Neutrons
Skinny jeans + Gothplague's brothel creepers as bottoms for AM

Alright, kicking off with the clothing: I know, AM isn't that under-represented an age group, but they can always use nice shoes.
I heavily edited Aikea's bootcut jeans to resemble those skinny jeans you see on lanky and hip city boys and added Gothplague's brothel creepers to them. Because if any shoe is fit for patterns or bright colours, it's those. Unfortunately it was my first time skinning shoes from scratch, but at least they're recognizable as the things they're supposed to resemble (shading white is a nightmare). There are 4 retextures of the mesh in total and the set includes both tucked and untucked alphas.

Bottom Information
File name: yuxi-clothing-GPCreepersAikeaJeans
Polycount: F1146 V979
Morphs: Yes.

Ypsilon
Aikea Guinea's capris + Gothplague's 20-hole Docs as bottoms for AM

Docs are very much unisex, but for some reason I've only seen these on female meshes so far. Also includes 4 retextures with both tucked and untucked alphas.

Pink Bullets
Recolours of Pittingers BPS forum gift seat.

This seat was a gift to Black Pearl Sims from Pittinger (a.k.a. NANU) and was only available in plain white. Even though I'm not much of a Neonate (oh terrible pun), even to me it just begged for recolours. I was already completely KO after just 20 recolours though, loser.
I should mention that I moved some vertices around in the mesh because they made the pattern look a bit dodgy, so you may want to replace it with this edited file if you already have it.

Credits: Pittinger/NANU for the mesh and base textures. The striped pattern was snatched from Web Treats.

Quelqu'un M'a Dit
Antique mirror, painting and empty frame object set.

This was actually a forgotten mesh from Fallout 3 (oh yeahh, what else) transformed into a small hanging mirror, a painting and an empty lopsided frame.
The small mirror is the repository/master file for the frame textures, while the painting slave holds the textures for the canvas. I made a bunch of recolours of both the frame and the painting canvas to make it fit a larger variety of decoration styles (aka adding MOAR colours). The paintings itself are some of Waterhouse's paintings and some sky textures from various games, all edited for an aged look.

- The painting and the empty frame can be found under 'Wall hangings' for 1000 and 150 simoleons.
- The mirror can be found under 'Mirrors' for 500 simoleons.

[Object recolour].Everyone's a critic; Adele painting recolours

Here are eleven recolours of Adele's beautiful framed art mesh, from her Ramsay set. A few years ago, when my creativity wasn't in the sorry slump it is now, I used to dick around in Paint Shop Pro (Photoshop still being too awesome for me), prettifying pictures and making layouts and icons out of them, you know the drill. I wouldn't use designs like that any more but found it a waste to let these rot away, and thus the fiddling commenced.

Here are pictures of all of them, at 60% of their original size. They're labelled clearly so you can give the boot to the ones you don't want. Also, the last two differ in frame tones - no.1 is light-framed, no.2 is the dark-framed one in the preview.

All files are compressed and the mesh by Adele is included, in case you didn't have it yet.

Very small offering today: Just some floor and wall overlays made from Fallout textures. I know I know, you probably have way too many of these already. So do I, never stopped me from making MOAR!

[Build stuff + Overlays] Sanguine

Set of extracted walls, floors and wall+floor overlays from the game Oblivion by Bethesda Softworks. Copy-pasta:

Greetings, denizens of the shadows and all that.
Oblivion is a fantasy-themed role playing game of which I am totally not a fangirl, no sir. The game has more wall and floor textures than anyone would ever want or need, so I've made a small selection and decided to throw some funky things I found while digging through it all to the mix.

A fair number of these walls come in sets of two (four in one case), labeled as #_a and #_b (and so on). I believe this also means they are Mac-friendly (at 256x512). You may slap me if I'm wrong. Also, some 'floors' are actually ceilings (and are labeled thusly in-game), so they work best with the new ceiling feature in Apartment Life.

For in-game previews, go to the GoS thread.

So, that's 140 files or so in total, compressorized for your pleasure. Feel free to resize/recolour/re-use these textures in any way you like (except on paysites/the Exchange, the usual.). Of course, the credit for these textures ultimately goes to Bethesda Softworks.

[Maxis object edits] Collector's Mania

I dislike shit that I don't use but can't delete, so in an effort to make the random Maxis sculptures and such more useful in my grungy houses, I spent time ripping, staining and breaking some things that I thought might come in useful at some point. I thought I'd share some of the nicer outcomes, along with some other Maxis-based edits. If you see something that strikes your fancy, all the better.
The files are clearly labelled so you can delete the things you don't want. The names under the pictures are the names of the recoloured objects.

Furniture and knick-knacks.

1. Globe L'Empereur, modern & antique. (Family Fun Stuff)
2. GrassCo Folding Chair (Bon Voyage)
3. Beware of Pet sign (Pets)
4. Ecopure Park Sign: 'New' object: Kicked down and recoloured, slave-mastered. (Pets)
5. Utensil Silo (Seasons)
6. Earthenware Trio (Seasons)

Wilting and dead plants.

Simple recolours. This is something I sorely miss in the game; Evergreen plants, my arse. Some of these seem to came with University/Nightlife, I'm unsure.

1. Potted Fiscus by Nature's Garden (2 versions. Dirty and filthy, I guess.)
2. Fruitless fig tree
3. Frost de Fleur Bud Vase, wilted. 'New' object ('Des Fleurs Mortes', 5 simoleons).
4. Fancifully Fuzzy Fern
5. Falling Fern

Paintings, posters and other wall-pinned stuff.

1. Llama Xing Sign (Nightlife)
2. 'We Call It Football' (University): Three shabby and old horror film posters.
3. 'We Call It Football' poster mesh edit, slave-mastered. (University)
4. 'Surfing the Universe' poster mesh edit, slave-mastered (University). (Recolour is not mine, but it's unlabelled, unfortunately.).

1. Spring Majesty (Nightlife): Ever read 'the Collector'? That's what this made me think of.
2. Spare Satin Slippers (Freetime) : 'She danced til her feet bled' and all that.
3. Fighting Llamas Tri-Pennant (University): Lopsided and recoloured, slave-mastered.
4. "Nature's Perfection" by E.Z. Phun (Nightlife)

Nocturnal Imagination Receiver (Seasons): It is said breaking a dreamcatcher lets loose the nightmares that were caught, if done so before the light of dawn. To my eternal shame, the broken version is a separate object: it seems the shadow alpha can't be edited in a simple recolour package and keeping it like that looked silly. The one to the right is just a recolour of the original mesh.

Towels (Open for Business): Two files for four objects, as they're slave-mastered in the game.

Bella Squared mesh edit + 2 recolours. (Basegame)
